1 / Political Art in Thailand Today: Mirror or Driver? / Presented by Yavuz Fine Art

Singapore curator and critic Iola Lenzi will lead Manit Sriwanichpoom, Vasan Sitthiket and Navin Rawanchaikul, three of Thailand’s most prominent socially engaged contemporary artists, in a discussion of their work. Particular emphasis will be given to how their practices both respond to, and drive, socio-political shifts in Thailand and the region today.

3 / Artist Talk by Mr. Sugito Hiroshi and Mr. Aoki Jun / Presented by JAPAN CREATIVE CENTRE, EMBASSY OF JAPAN

Held in conjunction with Sugito Hiroshi’s Solo Exhibition at the Japan Creative Centre, Architect Jun Aoki will talk about the Japanese concept or “ba” (place/shared space/context), examining the relationship between art and location from the perspectives of the artist and of the architect. Moderated by Mr. Seng Yu Jin, Curator of the National Art Gallery.

4 / Sovereign Asian Art Prize Singapore 2012 / Organised by Art Outreach Singapore

Initiated in 2003 in Hong Kong, The Sovereign Asian Art Prize (SAAP) recognises some of the most important artists in the Asia Pacific. In 2012, Singapore joined Hong Kong and Shanghai as a venue host to the SAAP. In addition to the 30 finalist SAAP artworks, the Singapore exhibition of the Sovereign Asian Art Prize finalist paintings will include an additional 20 works by Singaporean artists.
